Borderlands 4 is officially up for pre-order, with the Standard Edition priced at $69.99. Publisher 2K and developer Gearbox Software confirmed that the looter-shooter sequel will release on September 12, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. A Nintendo Switch 2 version is also planned for later in the year.
You can find full edition details, media, and gameplay trailers on the official Borderlands 4 website and the 2K Newsroom announcement.
$70 Standard Edition Reflects AAA Pricing Trend
The $70 price tag for the Standard Edition aligns with the modern AAA pricing standard, which has steadily shifted from $60 to $70 in recent years. Gearbox will also offer a $99.99 Deluxe Edition and a $129.99 Super Deluxe Edition, each packing extra story content, cosmetics, and additional playable characters.
Pre-ordering any edition gets you the Gilded Glory Pack, a set of cosmetic skins exclusive to early buyers.
What’s Included
- Standard Edition – $69.99: Base game + Gilded Glory cosmetic pack
- Deluxe Edition – $99.99: Adds the Firehawk’s Fury weapon skin and Bounty Pack Bundle
- Super Deluxe Edition – $129.99: All Deluxe content plus two new Vault Hunters and two full DLC campaigns
All platforms support both solo and 4-player co-op, with crossplay confirmed at launch.
Built for Next-Gen and Handheld Gaming
Borderlands 4 is not just aimed at the living room console crowd. It’s launching at the same time that handheld gaming PCs are exploding in popularity. ASUS and Microsoft are finally making good on their promise with the ROG Xbox Ally, a Windows 11-based handheld system that supports Steam, Epic, and Game Pass right out of the box. That means Borderlands 4 will run natively on the ROG Ally and similar devices.
If you’ve been dreaming of looting and shooting from a mountaintop—or your couch—this could be the most portable Borderlands experience yet.
A Heavyweight in a Crowded 2025
With a September release, Borderlands 4 is entering a stacked year for gaming. From indie gems to blockbuster revivals, 2025 is loaded with competition. That said, Borderlands has always had its own flavor: chaotic co-op action, over-the-top humor, and more guns than sense. If Gearbox nails the tone and progression loop, Borderlands 4 could easily become one of 2025’s most-played titles.
