Red Bull is the OG of energy drinks. They got started way back in 1987 and since have become a juggernaut in both the energy drink world and the world of extreme sports with their sponsorships. And even after the release of strong competitors like Monster, Celsius, and Alani Nu, it still maintains a significant market share of 43% (2020).
As for flavors, Red Bull released its first variation on the original with Red Bull Sugarfree in 2003 and Red Bull Editions (different flavors) launching in 2013. They must be a hit because they currently sell 16 or so variations in the U.S. between the original, Editions, and their sugar-free counterparts.
So today we’re going to review and rank every flavor Red Bull puts out, both regular and sugar free, so you don’t have to. We’ll talk flavor, mouth feel, carbonation, and aftertaste. And who knows? Maybe you’ll find your favorite new flavor you didn’t even know existed.
18. Red Bull Zero (Worst)

For the past handful of years, zero-calorie drinks have been all the rage. The problem is they often use artificial or natural zero-calorie sweeteners (or in this case a combination of the two) that have a harsh aftertaste and are difficult to cover up with other flavors. That’s Red Bull Zero. While Red Bull Zero does carry that original Red Bull flavor through to your tastebuds, it suffers from the classic monk fruit aftertaste that some will find unpleasant. It’s no where near the aftertaste of Sucralose, but has a distinct aftertaste nonetheless. Still, if you’re not sensitive to the flavor of Monk Fruit and you’re looking for a sugar free option, this might be your ticket.
17. Red Bull Sugarfree

Red Bull Sugarfree has the same flavor profile as the original but watered down and with a Sucralose aftertaste. It’s not bad, but it’s not great either. Consider it kind of the baseline for the sugar free editions.
16. The Summer Edition Sugarfree

I actually love white peaches. The real ones that is. The sugar free version of the Summer Edition has an intense, artificial white peach flavor, which gives way to a watery Sucralose aftertaste. Again, if you’re used to or don’t mind Sucralose, this might be the ticket. The real sugar version ranks significantly higher.
15. The Sea Blue Edition Sugarfree

Unlike the Summer Edition, the berry flavor is muted. Like the Summer Edition, it gives way to a watery Sucralose aftertaste. Mouthfeel is fine but has that slight drying sensation due to the Sucralose.
14. The Pink Edition Sugarfree

Nice wild berry taste with good carbonation and mouthfeel. Sweetened with Sucralose but it somehow does a great job of mitigating the aftertaste. One of the better sugar free options.
13. The Red Edition Sugarfree

When you take your first sip you get a Jolly Rancher-esque watermelon taste but somehow seems less potent as you go. Good carbonation and mouthfeel. The Sucralose and watermelon pair well together and helps tamp down that artificial sweetener aftertaste.
12. The Blue Edition

When you drink something that’s supposed to be flavored blueberry, you have certain expectations. This doesn’t meet any of them. Sadly it comes off as a watery, generic berry flavor. Perhaps it’s close to what squeezing fresh blueberries into soda water would taste like but it’s not something many would want in a soft drink flavor.
11. The Coconut Edition

While the berry flavor is pretty loud here the artificial coconut flavor is lighter and lingers on the pallet. Not the most flattering of coconut flavors and doesn’t quite blend with the berry as well as it could.
10. Red Bull (Original)

Though a bit medicinal, a very palatable flavor for an energy drink. Do I detect notes of cherry and vanilla? Fruit and spices to be sure. Not overly sweet with mild carbonation.
9. The Winter Edition (Sugarfree)

Whether you’re a fan of apple juice or not, you’ll probably like this one. It’s one of the mildest (though not watery), most palatable flavors I’ve ever had from Red Bull. The flavor is Fuji Apple and Ginger, though the ginger is extremely subtle. If you’re used to the regular, sugar variety, you’ll definitely pick up on the Sucralose, but it’s barely detectable. The Amber edition barely beats it out in flavor.
8. The Amber Edition Sugarfree

That’s right. I ranked this above the original which surprised even me. The best sugar-free flavors, strawberry apricot seems to help mitigate the sucrose aftertaste somewhat. The apricot flavor helps keep the strawberry grounded, which often suffers from a harsh metallic taste when used in drinks. Definitely worth a try if you’d like to cut some calories from your energy drink consumption.
7. The Pink Edition

Wild berry definitely lives up to its name. Artificial berry flavor with a slightly syrupy mouth feel. While I personally prefer the Yellow and Summer Editions, this is a very nice flavor.
6. The Sea Blue Edition

The berry flavor is certainly artificial tasting but tasty nonetheless. Great carbonation but with a slightly syrupy mouthfeel. Also, who in the US knows what a Juneberry tastes like? I guess we’ll have to take their word for it.
5. The Green Edition

One of the most palatable flavors Red Bull makes. Resembles a clean, more traditional big-brand soft drink in flavor. The current iteration is Curuba-Elderflower which, again, probably won’t be familiar to any of us here in the USA. Still, very tasty with a slight syrupy mouthfeel.
4. The Red Edition

Nice light watermelon taste as compared to other energy drinks. No significant aftertaste – dissapates rather quickly which may be appealing to some people. Doesn’t seem to have the same syrupy mouthfeel that some other flavors do.
3. The Yellow Edition

If you like topical flavors (namely, pineapple) you’ll love The Yellow Edition. It hits all the right notes on mouth feel and flavor, doesn’t have any lingering aftertaste, and is probably one of the truest flavors that Red Bull produces. This was originally my number one pick for Red Bull flavors but just barely lost to…
2. The Winter Edition

If you’re a fan of apple juice (and who isn’t) this one is for you. Actually, if you’re not a fan of apple juice this one is for you. It’s one of the mildest (though not watery), most palatable flavors I’ve ever had from Red Bull. The flavor is Fuji Apple and Ginger, though the ginger is extremely subtle. A worthy edition to the Red Bull line up.
1. The Summer Edition

The white peach rings true, doesn’t have a lingering aftertaste, has great carbonation and mouthfeel and is about as refreshing as it gets for a Red Bull flavor. They really hit the nail on the head with this one. It’s a surprising twist, given that The Summer Edition Sugarfree flavor ranked close to the bottom of this list.
So there you have it! Every current Red Bull flavor in the USA (as of Winter 2025) reviewed and ranked. Do you think I got it completely wrong? What’s your favorite flavor?
