ORLANDO, FL – The southeast’s largest fan convention, MEGACON Orlando, has officially begun its 2026 run, transforming the Orange County Convention Center into the ultimate destination for fans of sci-fi, fantasy, horror, anime, and comics. From March 19 through March 22, the event is expected to host over 180,000 attendees for a weekend of celebrity panels, exclusive reunions, and immersive fan experiences.
This year’s event is headlined by a monumental 25th Anniversary celebration of The Lord of the Rings. Fans will witness a rare reunion featuring Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, Billy Boyd, and Dominic Monaghan. The celebration culminates in a special “Second Breakfast” event on Sunday morning, offering a once-in-a-lifetime experience for Tolkien enthusiasts.
2026 Celebrity Highlights:
- Action & Legends: WWE superstar and actor John Cena (Saturday), alongside the legendary William Shatnerand Brendan Fraser.
- Genre Icons: Gillian Anderson (The X-Files), Helen Hunt (Twister), Alec Baldwin, and John Carpenter.
- Franchise Favorites: Stars from Star Wars (John Boyega, Diego Luna), Star Trek (Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner), and The Boys (Karl Urban).
- Cast Reunions: Special gatherings for the casts of The Mummy, The Goonies, Breaking Bad, Hocus Pocus, and Lost.
Beyond the celebrity stage, MEGACON 2026 features an expansive “Artist Alley” headlined by comic book icons Jim Lee and Frank Miller, who is celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Dark Knight Returns.
Exclusive After-Hours Programming: The excitement continues after the show floor closes with official after-parties, including:
- Universal Orlando After-Hours: An exclusive park takeover at both Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure on Friday, March 20.
- Anime After Dark: Themed “Pirates vs. Ninjas” and “Retro Anime” nights on Friday and Saturday.
- Official Kickoff & Y2K Parties: Late-night celebrations at the Rosen Centre and Rosen Plaza.
