The Red Band trailer for The Toxic Avenger (2025) has arrived—and it’s as gloriously unhinged as fans of the original cult classic could hope for. Directed by Macon Blair, this reboot delivers a slick mix of practical gore, absurd humor, and a cast that’s somehow both A-list and fully in on the joke.

Leading the slime-splattered charge is Peter Dinklage as Winston Gooze—aka the mop-wielding monster hero himself. He’s joined by a maniacal Elijah Wood (barely recognizable behind thick glasses and psychotic glee) and Kevin Bacon, who appears to be having the time of his life as the sleazy villain.

“Ultra violence… mutant nudity… splatter and piss play…”

Yes, that’s actually how the studio describes it.

    🔥 Trailer Highlights

    • Practical FX and goo galore: If you love your violence old-school, this one’s for you. The trailer showcases classic Troma-style splatter with arms torn off, acid burns, and monster transformations—all rendered with a lovingly low-fi feel. Bloody Disgusting calls it “delightfully disgusting.”
    • Violence meets absurdity: Toxie isn’t just fighting crime—he’s pulverizing it with buckets of bile and bad puns. Mop in one hand, mutant rage in the other, this is vigilante justice at its most gloriously grotesque.
    • Campy, chaotic tone: Think Deadpool by way of Evil Dead—hyperviolent but never taking itself too seriously. As Collider puts it, the film “leans hard into camp,” while still delivering a story that nods to the underdog heart of the original.

    💬 Early Reactions & Buzz

Fan reaction to the trailer has been explosive. Online threads are filled with love for its gory flair, Dinklage’s unexpected heroism, and Wood’s unhinged performance. Critics who caught early screenings describe it as a “chaotic blend of gore, wit, and heart” (CBR), with early Rotten Tomatoes buzz sitting impressively high for a film this unfiltered.

The Toxic Avenger has already been named one of our Most Anticipated Sci-Fi & Action Movies of 2025, and for good reason.

    💀 Final Thoughts

Whether you’re a long-time Troma fan or a newcomer to the gooey madness, The Toxic Avenger (2025) looks set to be one of the most insane, fun, and subversive releases of the year. With its gonzo visuals and a stacked cast leaning full-tilt into absurdity, this could become a cult classic all over again.

📅 Mark your calendars—and maybe bring a poncho.
