Nintendo Switch 2 Is (Sort of) Here — If You Can Find One
The Nintendo Switch 2 has officially landed in the U.S. — or at least, it’s trying to. The $450 hybrid console went on sale at midnight ET on June 5, but good luck actually getting your hands on one. Online stock evaporated almost immediately and, as of Thursday afternoon, remains basically nonexistent. Your best shot right now? Hit up a physical store — just don’t expect a guaranteed win.
If you’re still empty-handed, don’t worry — you’re not alone. Below, I’ve rounded up the latest info on where to buy the Nintendo Switch 2 (or at least track a restock before it vanishes again).
Where to Buy the Nintendo Switch 2 Right Now
Walmart
Walmart went live right at midnight with both the standard console and the Mario Kart World bundle… and both sold out fast. In-store availability is still a thing, though stock varies wildly by location. If there’s a Walmart near you, it’s worth a visit — just don’t expect online magic anytime soon.
GameStop
GameStop actually held launch events Wednesday night and is touting in-store availability. Anecdotally, some locations had decent inventory (around 80 units at one NYC store), but again — it all depends on where you are. Their website? Currently no-go, unless you count a $625 bundle with a microSD card and accessories that keeps popping in and out of stock. (It’s overpriced and gross, but desperate times…)
Target
Target kicked off in-store sales June 5 and still has a few consoles floating around. Online restocks are scheduled for “early morning” Friday, June 6, so set those alarms. As of this writing, Target might be your best non-scalper shot at securing a unit without leaving your couch.
Best Buy
Best Buy went big with midnight launch events and in-store stock starting June 5, but don’t bother refreshing their website — they’re not offering online orders during launch week. You’ll need to brave the real world for this one.
What About the Membership Clubs?
Costco
Costco had a Mario Kart World bundle briefly available, complete with a 12-month Switch Online subscription. Like everything else, it sold out fast, but it’s been flipping in and out of stock. You’ll need a Costco membership to check, obviously.
Sam’s Club
Sam’s Club has also had some bundles available — no Switch Online subscription included — but stock updates are inconsistent. Still, worth watching.
BJ’s
Even BJ’s got in on the action, though listings were unavailable at the time of this update. Again, membership required, and timing is everything.
Amazon, Newegg, and the “Where Are They?” Crowd
Amazon is the biggest question mark right now. There’s no Switch 2 listing, no pre-orders, and no clue when they plan to start selling the thing. Newegg has had a product page up for weeks but hasn’t actually launched sales yet.
The Mario Kart Bundle Might Be Your Best Bet
Here’s a weird little silver lining: most stores seem to have more of the Mario Kart World bundle than the base $450 console. Considering the game itself retails for $80, paying the extra $50 for the bundle actually makes sense — if you can find it, that is.
Nintendo’s Invite-Only Method Isn’t Helping
Nintendo itself isn’t even trying to sell to the general public yet. If you’ve been a Switch Online member for 12+ months and logged 50+ hours of playtime on the original Switch before April 2, you can request an invite to buy a Switch 2. But let’s be real — even people who applied in April are still waiting.

If you haven’t snagged a Switch 2 yet, you’re not alone. Online stock is unreliable, bundles are overpriced, and retailers are wildly inconsistent. Your best bet?
